Chad Morris will be the next head coach at the University of Arkansas, the university announced Wednesday.
Morris and the Razorbacks agreed to a six-year deal worth $3.5 million annually.
Morris, 49, served as the head coach at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas from 2015 through the 2017 season. He compiled a 14-22 record, including an 8-16 mark in American Athletic Conference play. The Mustangs finished the 2017 season with a 7-5 record and a berth in the Frisco Bowl.
He was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Clemson from 2011-2014. He is an alumnus of Texas A&M University.
Morris was at one point a candidate for the Tennessee Vols' vacant head coach position during both John Currie and Phillip Fulmer's searches.
With the hire, Tennessee and Oregon remain the only Power 5 schools with head coaching vacancies.
