Tennessee Volunteers coach Butch Jones said it was “too premature” to comment on reports of redshirt junior running back Alvin Kamara’s knee injuries stemming from Saturday’s 49-10 loss to Alabama.
Our partners at GoVols247 reported Kamara has an LCL and meniscus injury, but not a torn ACL.
“Everything is wait and see. Is (Kamara) banged up? Obviously, everything is banged up,” Jones said. “I just got off the phone with him, and some of that was news to him.
“We have a lot of guys that are injured and banged up. It’s been a long, long season, but again, there comes a point and time where are some things…let it takes its course. Let’s not be too premature to judge and get it out there.”
On Tuesday, Butch Jones confirmed McKenzie “will miss the rest of the season” after enduring a torn pectoral muscle in the first half of Saturday's blowout-loss to Alabama.
Jack Jones tore ligaments in his thumb in the first half last Saturday’s loss to Alabama, according to GoVols247.
Senior linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin, who will miss the rest of the season after shoulder surgery, also addressed the media Tuesday.
Reeves-Maybin said he hasn’t completely shut the door on a possible redshirt for this season despite already graduating.
“I probably spent six hours a day in treatment that week,” Reeves-Maybin said Tuesday of his rehab attempt ahead of the Florida game on Sept. 24. “I wasn’t going to play like that at all.”
Reeves-Maybin missed three games against Alabama, Texas A&M and Georgia. He recorded two tackles in the first half against Florida before exiting the game due to the injury.
Tennessee’s leading tackler the past two seasons also left the Ohio game on Sept. 17.
On Tuesday, Reeves-Maybin declined to specifically address what kind of shoulder injury he sustained.
“(I’m) just trying to enjoy my last couple months here,” Reeves-Maybin said.
Reeves-Maybin said it would take “a couple months” for his shoulder to heal. The 2017 NFL Scouting combine is scheduled from Feb. 28 through March 6.
“He still has a major role on this football team,” Butch Jones said of Reeves-Maybin.
A number of starters and key contributors have missed time this season due to injuries:

UT dismissed redshirt senior defensive tackle Danny O'Brien due to a violation of team rules earlier this month.
The Vols head into the bye week before a road contest against South Carolina on Oct. 29.
“It’s all individualized where some individuals will be in the training room and they’ll be in the weight room, while others will be on the practice field getting ready to go as well,” Butch Jones said.
No. 18 Tennessee (5-2, 2-2 SEC) has lost consecutive games against Top 10 and SEC West opponents Alabama and Texas A&M.
The Vols have lost 13 consecutive games against SEC West opponents. Tennessee's last win against an SEC West opponent came against Ole Miss on Nov. 13, 2010.
Tennessee's next chance to beat an SEC West team in regular season play will come Oct. 21, 2017, against Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
