Former Tennessee forward Jarnell Stokes was selected with the 35th overall pick by the Utah Jazz in the NBA Draft on Thursday. Moments later, Stokes' hometown Memphis Grizzlies acquired his rights from Utah in a trade.

Utah sent Stokes to Memphis in exchange for a 2016 second round pick.

Stokes became the 44th Vol taken in the history of the NBA Draft. He was expected to be drafted in the first round but had to wait until the fifth pick of the second round to have his name called.

The Memphis native set the single season rebounding record for the Vols this year and tied Bernard King's single-season double-doubles record with 22.
