Tennessee freshman walk-on guard Jacob Fleschman knows Rick Barnes well.

His father has been close friends with the Vols basketball coach since Jacob was a kid.

Fleschman grew up around the basketball program at Texas, where Barnes coached from 1998-2015.

One of his first trips with the Longhorns earned him his nickname, "Blackjack."

"They call me 'Blackjack,' because when I was seven I was on a plane with UT (Texas) and they put me in for a hand of blackjack and I was seven, I didn't know what was going on and I got blackjack. Kevin Durant actually nicknamed me Blackjack and it's just stuck since then."

Durant, the 2012 NBA MVP and a 7-time All-Star, played for Barnes at Texas for one season (2006-07) before going to the NBA as the second overall pick in the 2007 draft.

Barnes occasionally went to watch Fleschman's AAU games and the Austin, Texas product decided playing for Barnes at Tennessee would be the best way for him to develop as a basketball player.
