Vanderbilt's 45-34 victory over Tennessee was a historical one for the Commodores.

-Derek Mason's first win over a ranked opponent

-the most points Vandy has scored in a SEC game since 1971

-the most points Vandy has scored against Tennessee since 1923

-the first time an unranked Vanderbilt team has beaten a ranked Tennessee team (Vols were previously 38-0 in that situation)

For Tennessee, the loss was "embarrassing."

"It's something we're going to have hear about for the entire year," said Vols wide receiver Josh Malone, who is from the Nashville area. "It's unacceptable, it's embarrassing."

"It just makes me sick thinking about them storming the field like that," said Tennessee offensive tackle Brett Kendrick. "This one's going to take awhile to get over."

Despite beating rivals Florida and Georgia in the same year for the first time since 2004, Tennessee's season is marred by inexcusable losses to South Carolina and Vanderbilt.

The Vols finish the regular season at 8-4, the same record they had in the 2015 regular season.
