Learning from Summitt behind the camera

Link Hudson of VFL Films talks about his memories of Pat Summitt and the lessons she taught him.

Thousands of photos and hours of footage of Pat Summitt help us remember her life and legacy. For Link Hudson of VFL Films, he's seen most of the video before, because he was behind the camera.

"What an incredible privilege it was for my career to be able to work with Pat," said Hudson. "I got to be a fly on the wall of her career. In the locker rooms for national championship games with a camera, on the sidelines behind the bench with a camera and a wireless mic on her."

Link gave us a look inside the Lady Vol program, because that is what Pat wanted.

"She was very aggressive in bringing notoriety and attention to her team and her sport. It was complete access is what we had with Pat," remembered Hudson.

Link was there to capture the best moments of Pat, and the hardest. Including her announcement of early onset dementia, Alzheimer's type.

"We were the ones that went to her home and shot the announcement that she had prepared," said Hudson. "That was pretty jarring as well, but you knew instantly she was going to fight it, she was going to be very public about it."

June 28, 2016 the tapes were brought out. Memories and moments revisited.

"I got to re-live a lot of great moments of being a fly on the wall, but it did bring home the finality of it and how hard it is to cope right now, because of what an icon she was and what she meant to so many people at Tennessee."
