Quinten Dormady says he's leaving UT

Dormady said he plans to complete his degree from UT and then transfer for his final year of eligibility.

Quarterback Quinten Dormady says he is leaving the University of Tennessee.

Dormady announced his decision on Twitter Monday, and said he plans to complete his degree from UT and then transfer for his final year of eligibility.

In the statement, Dormady said his goal is to "work my way back to the game as a post graduate quarterback - stronger, sharper, ready to compete and be a good teammate."

"I would like to thank everyone at the University of Tennessee program for the opportunity over the past three years to play the game I love at the highest level of college football as part of Vol Nation," Dormady said.

Dormady started the first five games of the Vols' 2017 season before redshirt freshman Jarrett Guarantano took over the starting job for the South Carolina game.

Dormady was slated to undergo shoulder surgery last fall.

On Monday, Dormady said he's making progress in his rehab, and is "excited as I look to the future and toward a new opportunity."

"I am making great progress every day with the help of my family, my friends and doctors. I want to thank everyone for their support through rehab," he said.
