Greenback's Kayne Roberts opened Week 8 of the high school football season with a dominating performance against Region 2-1A foe Coalfield.

The senior running back secured over 55 percent of votes to win PrepXtra Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for 263 yards and scoring five touchdowns against the Yellow Jackets. Roberts' four rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown propelled the Cherokees to a 42-27 win against the previously unbeaten Yellow Jackets.

"I have good vision coming off my blocks," Roberts said. "And I try not to get tackled."

Roberts isn't taking all the credit for his performance, though.

"A good performance shows off of a good line at the running back spot," Roberts said. "Everything that happened Thursday was because of the line.

"That's where all the success comes from."

Greenback will face Midway Friday night.

Kingston senior linebacker Ethan Guinn secured the PrepXtra Defensive Player of the Week honor after racking up just over 56 percent of votes.

Guinn recorded 13 tackles, including two tackles-for-loss, and two pass breakups in the Yellow Jackets' 35-15 win against York Institute last Friday. The victory put Kingston back in the win column after a three-game skid.

Guinn attributes his stats to his aggressive style of play.

"Playing football, it's not just carrying the ball, catching the ball," Guinn said. "I just love hitting and being aggressive.

"That's just what I feel like is the best thing for me to do."

That style of play strengthens head coach Brian Pankey's confidence in his team.

"Him being able to come out and play really well for us," Pankey said. "Anytime he can do that it's going to give us a chance to win."

Kingston will face Alcoa Friday night.
