Grains and Grits Festival to bring whiskey makers to Townsend

Whiskey distillers and enthusiasts will come together in Townsend this Saturday for the first annual Grains and Grits Festival.

The event lasts from 5-9 p.m. at the Townsend Visitors Center and will feature samples from more than two dozen whiskey distillers, breweries and wineries. 

Country music artist Tara Thompson will perform starting at 7 p.m.   

Representatives from Jack Daniels, George Dickel, Old Forge, Popcorn Sutton, Thunder Road, Chattanooga Whiskey and more will be present. Jeff Arnett, Master Distiller at Jack Daniels, will be there participating in his first ever East Tennessee tasting. 

Non-whiskey drinkers can check out beer, wine and food from local restaurants, including world-renowned Blackberry Farms.

Tickets are available at grainsandgritsfest.com. They are $60 online and $70 the day of the event. VIP parking is an extra $10. The event is 21 and up only.
