Food, fun, & fireworks: where to celebrate in East Tenn.

Hot dogs will be eaten, folks will gather in the grass to hear live music, and fireworks will be lighting the skies over East Tennessee this weekend!

There are a number of fun festivals and events taking place to celebrate Independence Day 2014.

Here's a list of what we have so far:

July 3


Shakin' the Lake

The Point in Dandridge

Kids activities, music starts at noon

Fireworks at 9:45 pm

Fireball Classic 5K

Race starts at UT Vet School on Neyland Drive

Reading of the Constitution

County Courthouse, 127 Main Street

9 am


Fireman's Festival on the Fourth

Courthouse Mall

Activities July 3-4, include live music, carnival rides and games, food, etc.

Parade: Friday at 11 am

Fireworks: Friday at 10 pm

July 4


Festival on the Fourth

World's Fair Park 4-10

Kids activities, music, food vendors

Fireworks at 9:35 pm accompanied by the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra

"The First Independence Day Parade in the Nation"

Begins at midnight at traffic light No. 1A on East Parkway.

Noon- River Raft Regatta at Christ in the Smokies bridge on River Road.

Fireworks at 10 p.m. downtown.

Pigeon Forge

24th Annual Patriot Festival

Patriot Park

Noon through 10 pm

Food, kids activities, live music, including a performance by country music group Lonestar

Oak Ridge

A.K. Bissell Park 7:30 - 10 p.m.

Free concert by the Community Band

Fireworks at 10 pm

Lenoir City

Parade and Firecracker Run

Broadway – C Street to South Grand Street

Parade/Race begins at 11 am on C Street

Participants for the parade or race can register by calling the Lenoir City Parks and Recreation Department at 865-986-1223.


Museum of Appalachia Anvil Shoot (various times throughout the day)



28th Annual Fourth of July Boat Parade

Participants should decorate their boat and meet at Point 8 across from Henderson Island between 11:00 – 11:30 AM

Parade starts from Point 8 across from Henderson Island, then goes around the Island, then towards Dandridge under the green bridge and ending at the old silos. The parade lasts about 2 hours.
