Farragut native competes in 'Ninja Warrior' season finale

Farragut native Grant McCartney is set to compete on the season eight finale of NBC's "American Ninja Warrior."

Farragut native Grant McCartney made it all the way to the season eight finale of "American Ninja Warrior."

But the "Island Ninja" fell into the water on the salmon ladder, the same obstacle that he lost on last year.

His comedic side shined through during his post-run interview after splashing out of the $1 million competition.

"I had my board shorts on I think I was thinking about surfing too much," he joked.

His brother, Colton, was on hand in Las Vegas to represent the rest of the McCartney family.

"I'm beyond stoked for this guy. He fell but I'm still proud of him right now," Colton explained.

McCartney grew up in East Tennessee and currently lives in Honolulu. He gained the Island Ninja nickname on the show.
