Strength and balance training can significantly reduce falls among older adults.
A group of Australian researchers tested a program that incorporated balance and strength exercises into the daily routines of people 70 and older.
After one year, this group had 31-percent fewer falls than people who did other types of exercise.
They also showed more improvements in balance, ankle strength and their overall physical function in daily life.
