The effort to reopen the Scott County Hospital has suffered another delay.
It was closed last May after the county could not reach an agreement with HMA, the company that operated the hospital as St. Mary's of Scott County.
Community leaders hoped to see it open by the beginning of the new year, but Scott County Mayor Jeff Tibbals says the timeline for transfering ownership of the building to the new operators is still in limbo
The new operator is a company called SM Promen of Tennessee.
So what's the hold up?
The mayor says the company needs to get all the investors in place.
Promen must raise $3 million dollars to cover operational costs before the hospital can open.
The state's Attorney General's office says it will sign off on the deal once the company proves it has the money.
If the deal isn't sealed by January 31, either the county or SM Promen can withdraw from the agreement, but Mayor Tibbals says he's hopeful the purchasing agreement will close in the next two weeks.
