#LidsforKids campaign provides bike helmets for students

Some Knox County school kids got brand new bike helmets Friday morning.

As part of the 2014 #Lidsforkids campaign, the lawyers of Brown and Roberto gave out bicycle helmets at Mt. Olive Elementary school.

Students at Mt Olive and New Hopewell Elementary submitted posters to promote bike safety, and the best projects were displayed on the law office's Facebook page for a vote.

New Hopewell won, but both schools got helmets.

"Whenever we are giving away the helmets for this project, we find that a lot of the kids say, 'Hey I wouldn't have had a helmet if this wasn't going on.' Or 'I have a helmet at home but it is my brother's and it has a crack in it.' So what we really want to be doing is trying to help them and showing that we support them and that we want them to be healthy and happy this summer," said Andrew Robert, a partner at Brown and Roberto.

The #Lidsforkids campaign aims to prevent head trauma in kids, which is the leading cause of new cases of epilepsy.
