Celebrity Chef Tyler Florence scheduled for the 2014 International Biscuit Festival

Listen up, Biscuit Lovers! Organizers say the 2014 International Biscuit Festival in Knoxville will be bigger and better than ever.

On March 3, "Biscuit Boss" John Craig visited Live at Five at 4 to preview the festival that will run May 15-18 and includes an expanded schedule including an appearance by celebrity chef, Tyler Florence who will appear at The Tennessee Theatre on May 18 at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale now, prices range from $34.00 for general admission, up to $122.00 for VIP access and are available at all Tickets Unlimited outlets and the Tennessee Theatre box office at 865-684-1200 or tennesseetheatre.com.

Before Florence's appearance there will be a street party outside the theatre that same evening. The Great Food Truck Extravaganza will feature food trucks from across Tennessee that will gather for a street party celebration complete with food and music.

Here are some of the highlights of the International Biscuit Festival:

Southern Food Writing Conference:

Kicking off the festival, the conference will run Thursday & Friday and features a panel of speakers, some of which are among the most noted Southern food writers in the country. The schedule includes a special dinner at Blackberry Farm on Thursday evening and will wrap up with a VIP reception at The Standard on Jackson Avenue. Biscuit Bazaar:

Saturday, May 17: Vendor area opens at 9am in downtown Knoxville and will showcase all kinds of flakey goodness including: jams, jellies, honey, sorghum, kitchenware, cookbooks and artwork.

Note: Applications and booth fees are due prior to May 1st, 2014. Accepted vendors will be notified within one week of receipt of the application.

Biscuit Baking Contest:

Contestants selected from a nationwide application process will compete in four categories: Savory Biscuits, Sweet Biscuits, Special Biscuits, and Student Biscuits. The Special Biscuit category seeks the most creative Biscuit creations, while the Student category is for Biscuit bakers who are 18 and under.

Note: Baking Contest applications are available online at BiscuitFest.com. Submissions will be accepted until midnight on April 21st, 2014. Finalists will bake live at the Festival.

Applications are also available for the Festival's Biscuit Songwriting competition which is sponsored for a second year by Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant, and the ever popular Miss and Mr. Biscuit Pageant, sponsored by Mast General Store.
