Sevierville is home to nation's largest rental cabin

(WBIR-Sevierville, Tenn.) The Big Moose Lodge has apparently set a new record in Sevier County. The log cabin, managed by HearthSide Cabin Rentals, is described as the largest rental cabin in the United States.

"We went ahead and decided we were going to build a cabin that would sleep more people than any other cabin in the country. This cabin sleeps 74 people," said Jimbo Whaley with HearthSide.

Developer and owner of The Big Moose Lodge, Kenny Hayes, tells WBIR the lodge has 16 bedrooms and 16.5 bathrooms. Two full kitchens, two hot tubs, and a barbecue pavilion are some of the many amenities. Hayes is very proud of the energy saving, green additions incorporated into the large build.

The log masterpiece caters to large families, groups and companies. The Big Moose Lodge opened in Fall 2013 and already holds bookings for 2015.

Soon, HearthSide will rent a lodge even larger than The Big Moose. Construction will soon start on the larger structure.

With the future builds, HearthSide will be able to house more then 550 guests on one mountain.
