First Night Knoxville is a family-friendly, alcohol-free New Year's Eve celebration of arts hosted by the Market Square District Association. Live at Five at Four's Erin Donovan will be MC for the celebration.

This year, party-goers will ring in 2010 enjoying entertainment at 12 different venues in downtown Knoxville. Among them: Market Square Stage, Tennessee Theatre, The Square Room, TVA Auditorium, Visitor's Center and YWCA Gymnasium.

Performers set to appear: One World Circus, Holy Ghost Tent Revival, Farmer Jason, Phil Pollard and the band of humans and The Lonetones.

There will also be Salsa and Flamenca dancing lessons, steel drums, and an Afro-Cuban band at the YWCA Gymnasium.

Also on First Night Knoxville, The Imagination Library will host The Children's Festival at the Tennessee Theatre. The fun starts at 3 p.m. with arts & crafts and One World Circus performers. Music on the main stage will include: The Mighty Wurlitzer, Sean McCollough, and Farmer Jason.

Folks must purchase a First Night Admission button to get into entertainment venues. The buttons go on sale December 1 at all Pilot Locations, Market Square Merchants, and First Night Knoxville's website. Buttons are $10 in advance or $15 on the day of the event. Kids 6 & under are admitted free.

During the month of January, First Night buttons will earn you discounts at many area businesses.

Folks will not need a button to get into Market Square for the entertainment there and ball drop at midnight.
