
For many senior adults, the internet is a daily part of their lives.
Marie Alcorn from the Office on Aging says most seniors used the computer to email friends and relatives. However, that extra tool of communication can also allow scammers to potential seek more online victims.
"There are tools on the internet that can allow people to hone in on seniors' traits and draw them into a scam," says Alcorn.
Senior adult Marlene Ross says she has been lured many times. "You always see free vacation emails, and one time I decided to do it, but when they asked me for my credit card, I knew it was a scam."
Now, Marlene just deletes anything suspicious and recommends that to other senior adults, especially those just learning the world wide web.
