Southern Baptist Convention leaders will be talking about sex at a spring summit in Nashville — taking on marital and teen sexuality, homosexuality and how pastors should address immorality in their flocks, among other topics.
The denomination's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission president, Russell Moore, said the theme, "The Gospel and Human Sexuality," is timely in a changing society.
"As technology advances and the culture changes, the questions that we have to grapple with are often increasingly complex," he said on the commission's website. "At the ERLC Leadership Summit, we'll talk about these questions, and how we can be faithful in ministry, gospel-focused in engagement and Christ-shaped spiritual warriors in the ways we seek to wrestle with the principalities and powers of this age."
The summit is scheduled for April 21-23 and will include speeches, panel discussions and breakout sessions to explain "how the gospel shapes our sexual identities, redeems sexual desire and sets free those who are held captive to sin's bondage," the posting said.
