East Tenn. mothers write to lawmakers, ask for more gun control

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and the Knox Blue Dots wrote letters to state lawmakers, demanding for gun control Sunday afternoon.

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense and the Knox Blue Dots wrote letters to Tennessee state lawmakers Sunday, demanding for gun control.

Dozens of mothers showed up to the event. Many came out Sunday following the shooting at a Florida high school.

"It's horrific and tragic that again, an entire community has been rocked by gun violence," Kendra Straub with the Knox Blue Dots said. "Our children deserve to live free from gun violence in their schools, in their home and in their communities.

Both groups are hopeful state lawmakers will make a change.

"We are making our voice heard and are making it known to our lawmakers that we want real change on who, where and when people can carry loaded weapons," Straub said.

The mothers plan to send the letters to the Tennessee capitol, Nashville, in the next week.
