Vols fans transform mini school bus for game day

When it comes to game day, Jason and Heather Houchins travel in style.

Big Orange style that is.

“Everything is orange and white,” said Jason. “That’s the way we go, we bleed orange and white.”

He’s referring to their mini tailgate party bus. Once a school bus, the Johnson City couple found it last summer and decided to give it a transformation.

"It was a fully operational bus, had all the seats in it, was ready to go to school and we turned it into ready to go to a tailgate,” Jason said.

Orange and white checkers line the outside, as well as Power T logos and a UT stop sign. The inside of the bus is decked out as well.

“We put in an 8-foot checkerboard countertop, guy actually brought this all the way to Johnson City for me to put in the bus,” Jason said. “This (countertop) is where we do all of our food prepping and food and gear up here before we tailgate.”

The bus’s décor combines their love of the Volunteers with a good ole football feel.

“We also put down some green turf that makes it look like the field, it’s a field turf carpet,” said Jason.

You’ll even find a little sophistication.

"We put in a nice white leather couch in here where she can take a cruise. We usually bring a few guests with us and they enjoy getting on the comfy couch,” he said.

Every time they take it for a ride, they gain several friends along the way.

"Every time we pull over to get gas, we have people who want to see it, take pictures with it,” said Jason.

However, it’s time for something new.

"I have a new project up my sleeve so we put it out there to see if somebody would be interested in it,” said Jason.

You can find the mini bus for sale on Craigslist. It can be yours for $8,000.

"We hope it goes to a really strong Vol fan like we are,” said Jason.

As for their next project, we won't get any details just yet.

"Oh no, I’m afraid someone will beat me to it, but it's really good,” said Jason.
