You've probably seen them every year around Valentine's Day since childhood, whether in a goody bag from your teacher, spread on a table at a party or in the 50 percent off bin at the drugstore after Feb. 14.
They come emblazoned (or lazily-stamped) with terms of endearment like "hey you" "cool cat" and "love u." They're conversation candy hearts, and they're Tennessee's and the nation's favorite Valentine's candy, according to CandyStore.com.

Conversation hearts beat out the classic heart-shaped box of chocolate that previously reigned supreme in the States. It was a close one, though, with the hearts coming out ahead by 0.6 percent.
Though it's the single most popular candy in the nation, it has by no means a monopoly on Valentines's Day. Also abounding in the U.S. are Hershey Kisses and chocolate roses, according to CandyStore.com's findings, which they said are based on 10 years of sales data.
