The debt crisis on another continent is hitting close to home for one of East Tennessee's largest employers.

The ALCOA Corporation in Blount County employs hundreds of people, and the company proved to be one of the biggest decliners in the stock market Wednesday.

In all, ALCOA shares dropped 3.49 percent.

Financial experts blame the debt crisis in Europe.

ALCOA is one of 30 companies in the Dow Jones. All but one posted losses Wednesday.
