The state is about to launch a revised college-savings plan.

Gov. Bill Haslam and other state officials will unveil the plan, called TNStars College Savings 529 Program, at the Sudekum Planetarium at Adventure Science Center on Tuesday.

The plan allows parents to save money and gain tax benefits for their children's college education costs. Such plans are named after the federal tax code section that created them.

TNStars succeeds an earlier program that the state closed in 2008.
