Jeter set to play in spring game Thursday
New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is set toplay his first spring training game of his final season today. Jeter is scheduled to play when the Yankees host Pittsburgh. The Yankees take on Florida State in an exhibition on Tuesday and visit the Pirates on Wednesday. The Yankees captain announced this month that he will retire after this season.
Ukraine: No new government before Thursday
Ukraine's new government, which is expected to be formally approved by parliament Thursday, faces the hugely complicated task of restoring stability in a country that is not only deeply divided politically but on the verge of financial collapse. Ukrainian fugitive President Viktor Yanukovych asked Russia on Thursday to protect him from "extremists," as a respected Russian news organization reported that he was seen in a Moscow hotel and was now staying in a Kremlin sanatorium just outside the city.
Proposed food labels stress calories, sugar, portions
The nutrition labels on the backs of packaged foods are getting a proposed makeover today that will make calorie counts more noticeable, serving sizes more realistic and added sugars more obvious. The changes, proposed by the Food and Drug Administration, will be announced by first lady Michelle Obama at the White House and tied in to the fourth anniversary of her Let's Move Campaign.
