  • Family members of two Tennessee army pilots killed in Iraq have now filed a multi-million dollar wrongful death lawsuit against the manufacturers of the helicopter they flew.

Captain Marcus Alford Senior and Billie Jean Grinder died in February 2010, when the Kiowa helicopter they were flying in suffered a system failure and crashed.

Alford was a graduate of South-Doyle High School in Knoxville and Carson-Newman College.

Now family members of Alford and Grinder are suing the five companies that made parts on the helicopter. They said negligence by those companies directly caused the deaths of the two.

Both of the families are seeking $40 million each in actual and punitive damages.
