Tennessee Smokies pitcher Ty'Relle Harris is recovering after being hit by a car in a parking lot off the Cumberland Avenue strip early Friday morning.

Knoxville Police say Harris was struck by a black Cadillac in the parking lot behind the Tin Roof around 2:45 am. Witnesses say the driver of the Cadillac fled the scene.

When officers arrived, Harris was lying on the ground, his legs injured.

A release from the Smokies & their parent organization, the Chicago Cubs, says Harris is still at UT Medical Center.

According to the statement, "While considered serious, Ty'Relle's injuries are not life-threatening and he is very fortunate that the injuries were not more severe. Due to privacy concerns, no further information will be released at this time regarding his medical condition,"

Officers were able to track down the driver of the Cadillac, David C. Wilder. He's been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, vehicular assault, and driving under the influence.
