Members of the University of Tennessee Police Department have launched a new campaign they hope will help keep crime in the Fort Sanders area at minimum.
Tuesday, officers walked door to door talking to residents and handing out information about staying safe. It is part of a new joint safety campaign between UTPD and the Knoxville Police called "See, Something, Say Something."
UTPD started working with Knoxville Police last year to increase patrols in Fort Sanders. The area has seen an drop in crime since 2009 and officers are encouraging residents to help them make sure that trend continues.
"If they get something that could be a potential problem, let someone know. We have information that has phone numbers for our police department and the Knoxville Police Department," said Sgt. Donnie Ross with the UT Police Department.
The new foot patrols will take place once a month.
