The moonshine that made East Tennessee's Popcorn Sutton a legend is now available to drink legally, just in time for what would have been the moonshiner's 65t birthday.
Popcorn Sutton's Tennessee White Whiskey is made with Popcorn's secret recipe the same way he made it, in custom made copper stills designed by Popcorn's own hand.
"It's been a crazy road since Popcorn passed in 2009, but we did it just the way you wanted us to!" said Jamey Grosser, Popcorn's apprentice and business partner. "Thank you Popcorn for all you taught me and thanks to my new rowdy friends, here's to you, Popcorn, Happy Birthday."
The whiskey will be available in Popcorn's old stomping grounds of Newport, Morristown, Gatlinburg and Greenville liquor stores beginning Friday.
As promised by the late Sutton, Parrotsville and Newport were the first places worldwide to get Popcorn Sutton's Tennessee White Whiskey. "Happy Birthday Popcorn, we made it legal and welcome home!" said Sutton's widow, Pam Sutton.
