East Tennessee's fire season has started and the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Forestry Division is making it easier to get some burn permits.

Outdoor burning requires a permit from October 15th through May 15th. Starting this year, some of the permits are available online. Online permits will be available for single small debris except in Knox, Davidson, Madison and Shelby counties.

Burn permits are required in Knox County at any time of the year.

Anyone who wants to burn large brush piles or multiple piles at once still needs to call their local forestry office for a permit.

For more information on the permit, or to fill out an application for yourself, visit the State of Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry website.
