The bear shattered the glass in tne front door of the Ole Smokey Candy Kitchen.
A bear with a sweet tooth didn't let a little glass keep him from getting a snack early Wednesday morning.
Workers at the Ole Smokey Candy Kitchen in Gatlinburg said a black bear broke through their front door around 6:00 a.m. He skipped over the shattered glass, and went straight for the good stuff.
"We came in the back room, turned the light on and saw candy in the floor. We ran out the back door and got in our car," said Gwatha Kear, who has worked at the Candy Kitchen for several decades.
"I said we have the sweetest bear in town," worker Dorothy Robbins added.
They said he feasted on caramel apples, pecan logs, and rock candy before workers arrived and caught him in the act. They called Gatlinburg Police, who scared the bear out of the building and away.
The workers say the bear weighed around 200 pounds, and that he's a frequent visitor to the area.
TWRA is now investigating and looking for the bear. Once it's captured, it could be relocated or euthanized.
