A Campbell County volunteer firefighter has confessed to setting three suspicious fires.  Investigators believe he may have been involved in more, and was not working alone.

Authorities in Campbell and Claiborne County have been working to determine who was responsible fora string of 16 fires along Highway 90 in the past two weeks.  Most of the fires happened in the White Oak and Clairfield communities.

According to Campbell County Sheriff Robbie Goins, a deputy pulled Christopher Dobson, 18, over for a traffic violation Thursday night.  Inside his vehicle, the officer spotted flares and other items that made him suspicious.

Dobson, a volunteer firefighter for the White Oak VFD was questioned, and confessed Friday morning to setting three of those fires.

He has been charged with three counts of arson.  Authorities are still investigating to determine if he was responsible for any of the other fires.  They also think others may be involved, and believe there is a possibility that other volunteer firefighters could be to blame.

Earlier this week, two Claiborne County volunteer firefighters were charged with setting two fires.Brandon Evans, 19, and Michael Loper, 19, worked for the Springdale VFD.
