I grew up an hour South of Knoxville in the small town of Athens, Tennessee. I guess you could say I've always had the news bug. At age 10, I began my journalism career as a "Kidsnews" reporter for WTVC in Chattanooga. Longtime WTVC personality Marcia Kling took me under her wing and continues to serve as a mentor today.
I first joined the WBIR family as an intern while in college at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. After graduating with a major in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Political Science, I headed to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. I worked with top 50 television news markets as a Broadcasting Publicist for Walt Disney World Media Relations.
The Disney Company provided incredible opportunities, but I was itching to get back to television news, so I accepted my first on-air position at WKAG in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. As a multi media journalist, I served as a photo journalist, an editor, producer, reporter and anchor. A year later, I joined the Fox 24 news team at WGXA in Macon, Georgia. Still toting a camera, I worked my way up to evening anchor.
In September of 2002, WBIR called and I was incredibly blessed to come home to East Tennessee. I currently co-anchor Live at Five at Four with Russell Biven, as well as anchor Ten News at Five, the 10 pm News on Fox 43 and produce the HomeGrown franchise. Not only have I had the opportunity to meet some amazing people and share their stories, I've gotten involved with many wonderful organizations in the East Tennessee community including: Alzheimer's Tennessee, American Heart Association, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, East Tennessee Children's Hospital, Junior League of Knoxville and Hope Initiative at Cokesbury United Methodist Church.
I have many interests, but my family certainly tops the list. I also enjoy running and watching football. Yes, on Saturdays in the fall, you'll find me at Neyland Stadium cheering on the Vols.
