I joined the WBIR family in July 2011. At the end of 2012, I started anchoring the weekend evening shows. When I'm not on the desk, I shoot, write, and edit all of my own stories. It keeps me running at full speed, and I love it!
I grew up in Illinois, just across the Mississippi river from St. Louis. I am a proud graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism (M-I-Z!) and will loudly cheer for both the Tigers and the Vols in the SEC.
My first experience with TV news accidentally landed me at the network level. During a high school trip to New York, I was chosen out of the crowd for a make-over on NBC's Today show. While the glitz and glamour was fun, I found myself most fascinated by the news team, strong journalism, and the stories they put together. It was then I decided - I had to be part of it!
Before coming to Channel 10, I reported and anchored at Mid-Missouri's NBC affiliate, KOMU-TV. There, I covered everything from the devastating Joplin tornado to the Missouri Senate races.
As the tech world and news world continue to merge, I want to keep up! In Missouri I wrote stories and anchored for an internet start-up company that analyzed breaking news coverage. "Newsy.com" made its name in the mobile-news industry, and most viewers watched my stories from their smart phone or tablet.
During college, I went back to the network for a brief visit - interning for NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. My time in the Big Apple coincided with the BP oil spill, and I spent most of my internship researching and working on stories about the Gulf of Mexico's recovery.
Now, I'm excited to call East Tennessee home, and tell stories "Straight from the Heart." If you have a story that needs to be told, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
