The Knoxville Ice Bears are still on a roll, winning their ninth straight game and 11th consecutive at home, 5-1 over Mississippi.

The Ice Bears are now a single point out of first and host top ranked Augusta Thursday night at the Civic Coliseum.
Here is more on the game from the Knoxville Ice Bears:
The Knoxville Ice Bears showed no signs of a Christmas hangover as they extended their winning streak to nine and home streak to 11 by defeating the Mississippi RiverKings 5 - 1.
Knoxville's top line of Eric Slais, Kevin Swider and Emery Olauson started the party early with a goal by Olauson at 1:49 of the first period. The pinpoint passing by Slais and Swider created the opportunity for Olauson, who broke in alone on Mississippi netminder David Wilson and beat him handedly.
The teams traded opportunities for the remainder of the period but neither team was able to find the back of the net. Knoxville headed into the locker room leading 1-0.
As with the first period, Knoxville jumped out early again with Dan Bremner's fourth goal in three games at 1:26 of the second period when he beat Wilson for a 2-0 Knoxville Ice Bears lead. Under twelve minutes later at 13:10, the Ice Bears increased their lead to 3-0. Jeremy Klaver ripped a shot past Wilson for his third goal of the season.
Mississippi answered back off a Hail-Mary pass from Dan Wilson to a lonely Deven Stillar who broke in alone and squeaked the puck past Jesse Kallechy for his only blemish of the evening. The RiverKings trailed the Ice Bears 3-1.
With the period winding down, Ricky Helmbrecht circled the Ice Bears goal and fired a laser pass to Jason Ford who fed a streaking Scott. Scott carried the puck just over the RiverKings blue line and ripped a shot past Wilson to regain the Ice Bears' three goal lead with only three seconds remaining in the second period.
The Ice Bears continued to pour on the offense. At 16:29 of the third period, Bremner out worked a RiverKings defenseman and stuffed the puck past Wilson to seal the victory at 5-1.
The next home game is Thursday, Dec. 29, as the Ice Bears host the first place Augusta RiverHawks in a game that will pit the first and second place teams head-to-head for the second time in a week.
