An East Tennessee man made an appearance in Dolly Parton's film, Joyful Noise, which made its national debut January 13.
Sevierville teacher Marvin West gathered 150 of his friends to see his role as an extra at Reel Theater in Sevierville Friday night. West, who has met Dolly Parton a few times, said acting is his passion.
He said he had a great time during the Atlanta shoot. West said he appeared in a choir with Parton and fellow actress Queen Latifah.
"I got to see all of those people in the room at the same time, so it was a great experience," West said.
He said he originally wanted to be in a food fight scene, but what ended up getting was better.
"I actually wouldn't have traded what I got to do for anything," West said.
Those who attended the film Friday night also helped out in a charitable way. Proceeds from the Sevierville premiere went toward two of Parton's charities.
