Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM) celebrated the opening of its ninth thrift store in East Tennessee on Friday.

The new store is located on South Hall Drive in Alcoa.

From Friday through Sunday, KARM will offer discounts at all nine of its thrift stores in the area.

KARM's president and CEO says this new location will benefit more than those in need.

"This gives the people in Alcoa an opportunity to say I have contributed in some way to make a difference in the lives of the poor and needy, not just in my community but also Downtown Knoxville as well," said Burt Rosen, KARM President and CEO.

Rosen also says they're pleased to be able to offer this increase in jobs and services.

All KARM thrift stores are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
