The second East Tennessee location of a supplement store just opened in Alcoa. It has a balanced approach to helping clients lose weight.
"I got on the scale and it said 302 pounds and I couldn't do it anymore," Megan Markway of Knoxville said.
That was back in January 2011.
Megan Markway cut back on junk food and lost about 45 pounds.
"I needed some help because I was losing my steam to go and do it. I came into Complete Nutrition and they helped me," she said.
She went to the franchise location in Farragut but now the same owners just opened a new location in Alcoa.
"It specializes in weight management. It specializes in healthy aging and sports nutrition," Complete Nutrition Co-Owner James Carper said.
Carper said the employees are trained in sports nutrition and act as success coaches who work with clients to help them achieve their goals.
The approach is 70-20-10.
"70% is your diet. That's first and foremost," he explained. "If you're not getting the proper nutrition in then there is no magic pill, no miracle pill that's going to make you to lose weight or gain muscle or anything like that."
He said 20% is exercise, and 10% supplements.
"These supplements are for supplementing to your diet and to your exercise routine. There isn't a magic pill," Carper said.
The multi-pronged approach appealed to Megan.
"They gave me a meal plan and they gave me an idea of what I needed to eat during the day, protein, vitamins, vegetables, all of that. And then I went and got a trainer and they gave me the workout plan," she said.
She used supplements called CTS-360. She took a different pill three times a day.
She still drinks at least 64 ounces of water every day.
"I follow a low calorie diet and I exercise twice a day mostly if I can get in there, just a lot of aerobics and a lot of intense cardio," she said.
After losing about 150 pounds she's at her goal weight, a goal she said Complete Nutrition helped her achieve.
