Wednesday marks the second day school buses will not run in Union County.
The transportation service ended Monday for the rest of the school year.
The Union County School System's transportation budget is $90,000 short.
Tuesday, vehicles wrapped around several schools as students were released to their parents one by one.
"Actually, it's just a headache. Traffic is bumper to bumper," said mom Valerie Hensley. "There were a lot of people bringing their kids, but it was ridiculous."
"Typically we have about 5.5% [students] absent. Today, we had about 18% absent," said supervisor of instruction Susan Oaks.
The system's last full day of school is next Tuesday. Students pick up report cards during a half day next Saturday.
The school system does not have a clear answer about next year's bus service since their budget has not been approved yet.
