Rescue crews have suspended the search for a missing 16-year old teen last seen in the French Broad River.
The Sevierville Police Department says they and several other agencies were looking for the teen near McCroskey Island. That's just north Sevierville.
Police say the teen has been missing since 4 p.m. when he ran away from his home off Big River overlook. They say his grandfather last saw 16-year-old Alan Pittman trying to swim across the French Broad River.
Authorities say they are not sure whether he made it to the other side or possibly drowned. They used the Knox County helicopter to try to find the teen.
They suspended the search around 9 p.m. when it got dark. Pittman is 5' 1" and weighs 180 pounds. He has short blonde hair and blue eyes.
If you have seen the teen, authorities are urging you to call 911 with any more details.
