Just when you thought it was safe to go to a parking lot... we show up.
Ted Bowers had called with a dare to drive his truck. I believe Ted forgot to mention that is was an 18-wheeler. Needless to say, Photographer JJ and I met him over at Chilhowee Park, ready to roll.
Now we have all seen these tractor trailers on the roads and they are pretty impressive, if not scary, for some. I have the utmost respect for the people that drive them, but I also was curious.
So Ted gave us the lowdown. I should also mention that Ted is an amateur comedian and very funny. He may need his own segment here.
Also, Ted has the shiniest, cleanest truck I have seen in a while. I would not want to meet him as the sun was shining for fear of a blinding flash.
I know how to drive a stick.. but this in NOTHING like your 5 speed sports car. Seriously.
So after the tour of the cab and stories that will forever stay in the cab.. lol. We started. I was waiting for the screeching and grinding of gears, but peeps, I'm glad to report I did none of that.
It was actually fun, and yes, I got to honk the air horn. I'm pretty sure as a kid that is all I ever wanted to do. Don't pretend that you have never gone by a semi and pumped your arm hoping the nomad will honk and scare the kapow out of your family. Tee Hee.
Big thanks to Ted and apologies to the landscapers at Chilhowee Park for my honking at them.
