A Scott County man accused of gunning down the director of the Scott County Homeless Shelter has pleaded not guilty.
According to the Scott County Clerk's Office, Josiah Jones, 29, was arraigned Friday morning. He pleaded not guilty to 1st degree murder and felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was given a court-appointed attorney, Dale Potter.
Jones' preliminary hearing is set for June 13 at 4:00 p.m.
Jones is being held on $1,000,000 bond.
A man accused of shooting the Scott County Homeless Shelter director is now back in East Tennessee.
The Scott County Sheriff's Department says 29-year-old Josiah Jones is in its jail after being extradited from Alabama.
Jones is accused of shooting Jerry Voiles at the shelter on Tuesday morning.
Troopers in Alabama arrested Jones Wednesday after he ran out of gas on the side of a highway.
