A local attorney is disbarred after being convicted of theft.

The Tennessee Supreme Court has suspended Knoxville attorney John Threadgill's law license indefinitely.

He pleaded guilty to stealing money back in February. Since then, the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility has disbarred Threadgill.

The organization had previously suspended Threadgill's license in 2009, citing several rule violations.

According to the order of enforcement, Threadgill must also pay more than $266,000 in restitution.
