Phil Roe says he will run again for the state's first district seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
He made the announcement Tuesday in Johnson City, and the Republican congressman says despite two terms in Congress, there's still plenty of work to be done.
"I'm very very excited to work on healthcare and veterans' issues, obviously and education. They're three things I'm mainly focused on because two committees of jurisdiction I serve on are education workforce and veterans' affairs," said Roe.
He began his career in Washington after serving as mayor for two years in Johnson City and 31 years as an area physician.
He spent time in Hamblen County Monday night talking about his bill that would build Desert Storm / Desert Shield war memorial in Washington.
