The Salvation Army is saying 'so long' to some of their own.

Major Don Vick and his wife Daphne are leaving Knoxville after six years in charge of the Knoxville Area Command. They are being reassigned to Greensboro, North Carolina.

One of the things Major Vick is most proud of is almost quadrupling the number of volunteers from his arrival, and while he is looking forward to new challenges in North Carolina, he says leaving Knoxville is definitely bittersweet.

"We have had a great time here in Knoxville, really love the city and the area. This is one of the hard places to leave, but we are looking forward to the new work we will be doing in North Carolina," he said.

The new area commanders will be coming from Texas, and will arrive on Monday.
