In the middle of the night, a Knoxville music school is kicking off a fundraising campaign on Twitter to raise some much needed cash.
Joy of Music School is in the Twive and Receive social media fundraising contest. It begins at 3 a.m. Thursday morning, and the school will be competing against other non-profits to drum up as many donations as possible.
The top three organizations with the highest amount of funds raised at the end of the day will split $30,000.
The school's executive director believes they have a good chance at winning.
"Knoxville actually has a very strong Twitter population. The statistics bear it out that this is a very Twitter friendly place. When we saw this opportunity, Twive and Receive, it's very Twitter friendly, and we though, 'We really have a chance at winning this.' There's, I think, 200 organizations in the competition. Only one in Knoxville, only one in East Tennessee. We thought we really have a shot," said Francis Graffeo.
Should the Joy of Music School win, they'll use the additional $15,000 toward fall programs and instruments for students.
