According to the TDOT Smartmap, an overturned tractor trailer has shut down the right hand eastbound traffic lanes on I-40 at the Tennessee, North Carolina line. A driver tells WBIR that traffic is moving very slowly with only one lane open.
Drivers are also being asked to use I-81N to I-26E back to I-40 in North Carolina as an alternate route.
The accident is expected to be cleared by 2 pm Eastern.
