Thursday is Water Safety Day at Dollywood's Splash Country Safari and the world's largest swimming lesson.
The East Tennessee Children's Hospital in partnership with Splash Country offered the free event in which kids learned CPR and how to swim.
The goal was to make sure all kids are knowledgeable before they head for fun in the sun this summer.
"Every year we see drownings and near drownings, and it is such a tragedy. It happens in a matter of seconds. It doesn't happen like you see in the movies or television where kids splash around or make a lot of noise. Kids slip underwater without a sound. It is often called the silent killer," said Seth Linkous with the East Tennessee Children's Hospital.
Life vests are available free every day at Splash Country.
