TDOT says one of its help truck drivers appears to be doing alright after the truck was hit by another vehicle Thursday afternoon.
The crash happened on I-640 near Western Avenue.
Knoxville police say the help truck driver had stopped to assist firefighters who were called to a car fire.
The driver had only been on the scene for a few seconds when a red pickup hit the truck, injuring the drivers of both vehicles. Both went to the hospital.
The TDOT driver's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A small dog in the pickup at the time of the crash was not hurt.
No word on charges against the pickup driver.
