The community of Concord sits right next to the town of Farragut. Right now, Concord is not part of Farragut, but that is something that town leaders are talking about changing.
Monday, leaders of Farragut met with the Concord community to try and explain some things, and hopefully alleviate some of their concerns.
"We want to maintain our properties in the integrity of our history. We were founding in 1854, so we feel like we can do for ourselves anything that we have heard them talk about," said Carol Russell with the Old Concord Residents Association.
"This is a special place. They know it's special, we know it's special, and we just would like to make sure it stays special. That's our only motive," said Farragut Mayor Ralph McGill.
The mayor assures the community he will not support annexation if it is against the community's wishes, but the decision is ultimately up to Farragut's Board of Aldermen.
